A 25 year old single malt from the Kagoshima distillery of Mars, now closed. It is a vatting of five sherry casks, distilled in May 1984 and bottled in October 2009 at 46% ABV. The release totalled 3,018 bottles.
Hombo Shuzo closed Kagoshima in 1984 and moved production to Shinshu. The Kagoshima style, built on Masataka Taketsuru's notes and established by Kichiiro Iwai in 1960, was smoky and heavy. In 2009 Mars released the final five casks from Kagoshima as The Malt of Kagoshima.
