Mars Maltage 10 Years Old Komagatake Single Malt Japanese Whisky (Old Bottling) (70cl, 40%)

An older bottling of Mars Maltage Komagatake, a 10 year old whisky from the Shinshu Mars distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV. It is made by vatting carefully selected malts, and the distillery is described as the highest operating in Japan, standing at 798 metres below Mount Komagatake. The nose has fruity apricot and pear in the top notes, with a pleasant sherry scent in balance. The palate recalls red fruits such as cherries, with the acidity of the malt adding to its complexity, and the finish is lovely.
