This is a single cask whisky from Mars Shinshu, distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2019. It was matured in a PX sherry cask, number 5140, and is an Asian Exclusive release.
The nose combines the chrysanthemum tea character associated with Mars Shinshu with a strong sherry presence: maple syrup, creamy crème brûlée sweetness, raisins and sawdust.
The palate opens sweet, turns to caramel with a touch of sulphur, and has a very full body. The caramel lasts into the finish, slowly giving way to chrysanthemum tea and wood.
