This is a Mars Shinshu Komagatake whisky from a 2023 limited release, finished in casks that previously held India Pale Ale. The beer is a medium-dark IPA, brewed with plenty of hops by a brewery in Komagatake.
The nose is citrus and herbal, drawn from the hops. The palate has a clear sweetness reminiscent of grapefruit, and the finish is crisp and spicy. The distillery recommends it for making highballs.
