Mars Shinshu – Komagatake Limited Edition 2021 (48%)

Komagatake is a Japanese single malt from the Mars Shinshu distillery, released as a limited edition in 2021 and bottled at 48% ABV. The distillery stands near Komagatake, the highest mountain in the Japanese Alps, and draws on clear spring water from its slopes. For this edition the whisky was made at Shinshu and the casks also matured at an altitude of almost 800 metres above sea level. Sherry casks contribute honey, hazelnut and a gentle tannic grip. The nose offers quince, apricot, banana and creamy vanilla, and the palate is round, sweet and honeyed, with soft melon. The finish is gentle and elegant.
