Mars Single Malt Komagatake 2022 Edition

This is the 2022 edition of Komagatake single malt from the Mars Shinshu distillery in Japan. It is vatted mainly from malt aged in bourbon and sherry barrels and port casks, and the label shows the distillery roof with the mountains behind it. The nose opens with apricot and banana, followed by a deep aroma of apple tea. On the palate there are dried plums, hazelnuts from the sherry casks and the gentle sweetness of acacia honey. The finish is smooth, with a hint of ripe persimmon.
