Mary Dowling Winter Wheat is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon from the Mary Dowling Whiskey Company in Louisville. It is bottled at 45.5% in a 750ml bottle.
The mashbill is 65% corn, 25% winter wheat and 10% malted barley, with the wheat in place of the more usual rye. It matures for a minimum of four years in new American white oak barrels that are both toasted and charred to a #3 level.
The nose brings fresh cornbread, vanilla cream, strawberry and a little mint. The palate has butterscotch, candy corn, toasted coconut, peach and cinnamon. The finish is medium, with oak-tinged vanilla and sweet grain.
