Masseto 2018 Toscana IGT Magnum (1.5L)

Masseto 2018 is a Merlot from Tuscany, labelled Toscana IGT, in a 1.5 litre magnum. The vineyard takes its name from the hard clusters of blue clay, known as 'massi', that form on its surface. The 2018 growing season followed a cold winter with a very rainy spring, and disease pressure from downy mildew kept growers busy. Harvest ran from 31 August to 4 October, with differences between parcels and nine separate vinifications. The grapes were hand picked in small crates and sorted twice. Fermentation took place in concrete tanks, with maceration of 21 to 28 days, and malolactic fermentation began in new oak barriques.
