MB Roland Kentucky Straight Rye is a pot-distilled rye from MB Roland Distillery in Pembroke, Kentucky, in a 750ml bottle. The mash bill is 68% rye, 27% white corn and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged in new, charred American oak.
It follows a pre-Prohibition style: bottled uncut and unfiltered, with each batch proofed individually between 51% and 55% ABV, then hand-labelled and numbered. Batches run from two to five years old. The local white corn is there to round out the rye spice and give a buttery texture.
On the palate there is mint, pepper, baking spices and brown sugar, with a full body at barrel proof.
