Shenk's Homestead is a Kentucky sour mash whiskey from Michter's, part of the Legacy Series. The 2024 release marks America's 248th birthday and bears a vintage date, recalling the distillery founded in 1753 by the Swiss Mennonite farmer John Shenk.
Master Distiller Dan McKee built this year's blend from rye, malted rye and caramel malt. Select barrels use oak from France's Vosges region, air-dried and seasoned for 24 months before toasting. It is bottled at 45.6% ABV (91.2 proof).
The caramel malt adds a creamy texture to a herbaceous, spicy character.
