Michter's – Small Batch Sour Mash

Michter's Small Batch Sour Mash is an American whiskey from Michter's, descended from the Original Sour Mash Whiskey that was the distillery's most popular product in the 1970s and 1980s. Sour mash refers to a production method in which some previously fermented mash starts the next fermentation, much like a sourdough starter. The grain selection is unusual enough that the whiskey cannot be classed as either a rye or a bourbon. The Original Sour Mash left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US 1 line.
