Michter's Small Batch Original Sour Mash is an American whiskey bottled at 43%. Its grain selection means it fits neither the rye nor the bourbon category. It was the most popular Michter's product in the 1970s and 1980s, left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US*1 line.
The name refers to sour mash production, in which some previously fermented mash starts the next fermentation.
It is described as well balanced, with sugared almonds, cinnamon spice and vanilla sweetness.
