Michter's – Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash Whiskey (45.6%)

Michter's Shenk's Homestead Sour Mash is a small batch Kentucky sour mash whiskey from the Legacy Series, bottled at 45.6% ABV (91.2 proof). It honours John Shenk, who founded a distillery in 1753 that became known as Michter's in the 20th century. The mash contains a substantial share of rye alongside caramel malted barley. Part of the fully matured whiskey is finished in toasted, uncharred French oak from the Vosges region, naturally dried for 24 months. The cooperage also includes American oak air-dried for 60 months. The nose shows graham cracker, caramel, spice and ripe stone fruit. The palate is rich and toasted, with baking spices, stone fruit and toffee. The finish is smooth and robust, with spice balancing the sweetness.
