Michter's – Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon Limited Release (70cl, 45.7%)

This is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon from Michter's, finished in a second barrel and bottled at 45.7% in a 70cl bottle. It is chill-filtered. It starts as Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon, matured in new charred American white oak. It then moves to a barrel made from wood air-dried for 18 months, which is toasted but not charred. Nothing else is added. The edition was first released in autumn 2014. The nose has apples with cinnamon, roasted hazelnuts, thick sugar syrup and warm caramel. The palate brings creamy vanilla and peanut with raspberry and lasting caramel sweetness. The medium finish moves from soft caramel to light smoke, with baked pear, vanilla and marshmallow.
