Michter's US*1 Single Barrel Straight Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey, bottled at 42.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Each bottling comes from a single barrel.
The whiskey matured for between five and eight years in charred casks of white American oak. Michter's uses heat cycling and filtration methods chosen to suit each type of whiskey it makes.
The nose is spicy with a light pepper note, ginger, sweet toffee, vanilla and honey with nuts. The palate is robust and well balanced, with roasted hazelnuts, butterscotch, citrus and marmalade. The finish is long, creamy and spicy, with gently warming wood and a hint of hay.
