Michter's – US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey (70cl, 43%)

Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey is a small batch American whiskey in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is matured in fire-charred new American white oak barrels. The US*1 name honours Michter's heritage as America's first whiskey company. Sour Mash was the distillery's most popular whiskey in the 1970s and 1980s, left the market in 1989 and returned in 2012 as part of the US*1 range. Its grain selection means it cannot be classed as either a rye or a bourbon. The tasting notes describe warm toasted burnt sugar and spice, sweet smoky fruit, candied cherries and honeyed vanilla. It starts like a bourbon and finishes like a rye.
