Double Cask Oloroso is an American wheat whiskey from Middle West Spirits of Columbus, Ohio. It is bottled at 50% in a 75cl bottle.
The mashbill is 100% Ohio soft red winter wheat. The whiskey spends five years in lightly toasted American white oak, then is finished in Spanish oloroso sherry casks.
The nose brings fig preserves, toasted hazelnuts, candied orange peel and dried apricot. The palate is velvety, with golden raisin, honeyed cereal, dried plum, nutmeg, leather and black tea, then toffee, dark chocolate and cinnamon. The finish is long, with almond brittle, spiced cherry compote and cocoa powder.
