Midleton – Very Rare 2022 (70cl)

Midleton Very Rare 2022 is an Irish whiskey in a 70cl bottle, the 39th vintage in a yearly series made by blending selected barrels from the Midleton distillery. The idea began with Master Distiller Barry Crockett in 1984. Each bottle of this edition was numbered and signed by hand by Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman, and it is sold in a wooden box. The nose opens with vanilla, butterscotch and white chocolate, then honeycomb, cinnamon, nutmeg, green melon and kiwi, with charred oak giving structure. The palate is full-bodied, with a mild prickle of chilli oil, caramelised pear and orange zest. On the finish the spices fade first, leaving sweetness and soft fruit alongside oak tannins.
