Midleton Very Rare 2025 is the annual vintage release from Irish Distillers, a blend of single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys, bottled at 40% ABV. This edition marks the 200th anniversary of Midleton Distillery, founded in 1825, and brings together six distillate styles for the first time.
Master Distiller Kevin O'Gorman chose three grain whiskeys, including a 22-year-old and a 21-year-old, aged in refill American whiskey barrels. The pot still element is increased and matured in first-fill barrels.
The nose offers caramelised apple, toffee fudge and vanilla, with garden mint, lavender, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate has honeycomb, soft fruits, white pepper and treacle. The finish is rich and lingering, ending on oak and pot still spice.
