Midleton Very Rare Barry Crockett Legacy is a single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, bottled in 2023 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It honours Barry Crockett, the distillery's long-serving master distiller, who created the Midleton Very Rare series. The edition has been a permanent part of the Midleton range since 2011.
Made from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled, it matured mainly in ex-bourbon American oak casks, with a smaller share in virgin American oak. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose combines vanilla and toasted oak with lime, juicy green berries and ripe pear, plus a fresh note of green pepper. Lime and sweet mandarin meet fine pepper on the palate. The finish is long, with fruit and spice lingering.
