Midleton – Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais Edition 1 (70cl, 48%)

Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais Edition 1 is the first release in a series from Midleton Distillery, built around French oak from the Forêt de Tronçais. It is a Irish whiskey made from a selection of single pot still and single grain whiskeys. The whiskeys were first matured in American oak bourbon barrels, then finished in casks specially commissioned from Tronçais oak, a wood known for its very tight grain. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. On the nose there are orchard fruits, vanilla cream, toasted almond and gentle floral tones. The palate brings honey, ripe pear, baking spices and creamy vanilla, and the finish is long and delicately spiced, with lingering sweetness.
