Milam & Greene Port Cask Rye is an American rye whiskey bottled at 47% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The mashbill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
The whiskey was distilled in Indiana and then moved into old Portuguese port wine casks for a finish in Blanco, Texas. There it matures under big swings of temperature and humidity, and each cask is tasted individually until the team judges it ready.
The nose brings cinnamon, dark chocolate, black currant and blackberry. On the palate there is buttery cinnamon and vanilla, dried plums and stewed berries, then peppery rye spice. The finish is long, with dark chocolate and a gentle tannic grip.
