Moonbroch Orkney 2009 16 Year Old (70cl, 55.7%)

This is a single cask Orkney single malt, distilled in 2009 and matured for 16 years. It was bottled by Moonbroch, an independent bottler based in Alberta, at a natural cask strength of 55.7% in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration or added colour. The nose combines heather honey, light coastal peat smoke and citrus peel with orchard fruit, sea spray and toasted oak. The palate is rich and oily, starting with barley malt, honey and dried orchard fruit before gentle peat smoke, black pepper and sea salt appear. The finish is long and warming, with soft heathery smoke and salted caramel.
