Morand Abricotine AOP (43%)

Morand Abricotine is an apricot eau-de-vie from Valais, distilled in Martigny by Distillerie Louis Morand & Cie at 43% vol. It carries a Protected Designation of Origin, which governs where the fruit comes from and how it is fermented and distilled. It is made from Luizet apricots, a traditional Valais variety, and about 12 kg of fruit go into each litre. The ripe apricots are sorted by hand at the distillery, fermented, then distilled to a clear spirit. Its character comes from the fruit alone, with no ageing in wood and no vanilla, caramel or oak. Morand also grows Luizet apricots in its own orchards on the slopes of Saxon.
