Morris – Australian Malt Whisky Muscat Barrels (70cl, 46%)

This is Morris Muscat Barrels, a single malt from the Morris distillery at Rutherglen in Victoria, Australia. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour. The malt first matures in a combination of French and American oak that previously held wine, then has an extended finish in casks that held Morris's own fortified Muscat. The distillery stands on the Morris of Rutherglen wine estate, which gives it direct access to those casks. The nose has dates and figs with the sweetness of dark molasses. On the palate come dried figs, sweet malt, vanilla and spice, with a creamy texture. The finish is long, with the oak coming through clearly.
