An 11 year old single malt distilled at Mortlach in 2010 and bottled in 2021 at 57.8% in a 70cl bottle, as part of the Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection. It was matured in a refill hogshead, then finished for 15 months in a fresh sherry butt.
Mortlach, in Dufftown, has a robust, muscular character that has earned it the nickname 'The Beast of Dufftown'.
The nose is rich and fruity, with dried fruits and a savoury note in the background. The palate brings sherried fruit, fruitcake spices, red fruits, chocolate and coffee. The finish is long and chewy, with peppery notes and an oily texture.
