This Mortlach was distilled on 6th July 2000 and bottled on 8th February 2024 by Gordon & MacPhail, after 23 years in a first fill sherry butt. It belongs to the Connoisseurs Choice range.
It comes from a single cask, with 563 bottles filled at a cask strength of 60.3% ABV, in 70cl bottles.
The nose offers toffee apples and cocoa powder, then lemon peel, vanilla pod, cinnamon and a faint herbal edge. On the palate, stewed plums and dark chocolate sit with soft black pepper, followed by orange oil, butterscotch and mature oak. The finish is long and spicy, with lingering menthol.
