Mosgaard – Dark Peat 2025 (50%)

This is a peated single malt from Mosgaard, distilled in May 2020 and bottled on 30 October 2025 at 50% ABV. It is just under five and a half years old. It was matured in four small octaves of European oak: three of French oak of around 60 litres and one of 70 litres of Hungarian virgin oak. More than 44% of the whisky evaporated, far above the usual loss, so the outturn came to 340 bottles instead of the 600 or so expected. The flavours are deep smoke, gingerbread and ship's deck, with a closing note of vanilla.
