Black Peat is a five-year-old single cask whisky from Mosgaard in Denmark. It spent its first four years in bourbon casks, then a final year in a new cask of Hungarian oak.
The Hungarian oak is what gives the whisky its deep, dark colour. An earlier bottling, Black Peat #1, was named the best single malt in Europe in the 2023 edition of the Whisky Bible.
