New Riff Barrel Proof Malted Rye is a Kentucky straight whiskey made from 100% malted rye at New Riff Distillery. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
The whiskey ages for at least six years in new charred oak barrels, then is finished in oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
The nose offers dark cherries and stewed plums alongside buttery sherry oak. On the palate there are toasted walnuts, cocoa powder and a steady herbal rye spice. The finish is long and savoury, joining the rye with sherry-matured malt.
