Nikka Coffey Grain 90th Anniversary (70cl, 45%)

Nikka Coffey Grain is a Japanese grain whisky in a 70cl bottle at 45% ABV. This edition marks Nikka's 90th anniversary. It is made mostly from maize and distilled at Miyagikyo on traditional Coffey stills, which keep the grain character and give the spirit a creamy texture. It matures in refill, rebuilt and re-charred American oak casks. The whisky is chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose is described as ripe pear, cherry juice and exotic fruit, with blood orange, lemon, coconut and vanilla. On the palate it is juicy and creamy, with banana, pear nectar, caramel, liquorice and star anise. The finish carries pear and bourbon vanilla with a light bitterness.
