Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky (70cl, 45%)

A single grain whisky from Nikka, distilled in the two Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were brought from Scotland to Japan in 1963. Nikka has made occasional single cask single grain bottlings from these stills, and this is its larger release. It is bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. The nose is bourbon-like vanilla and corn, with a herbal hint of chamomile. The palate is sweet and fruity, with melon, grapefruit and thick syrup, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla. On the finish, sweet, vibrant corn notes linger.
