Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky (70cl, 45%)

Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky is a Japanese malt whisky made at the Miyagikyo distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 45%. It is made from 100% malted barley but distilled in a Coffey still, a continuous still normally used for grain whisky. Masataka Taketsuru brought two Coffey stills from Scotland in the 1960s, and this whisky was launched in 2014. The nose is clean and fresh, with candied lemon peel and cake spice. The palate is firm and spicy, rich and full in texture, with cinnamon and clove balanced by fresh citrus. The finish has rich spice, warm oak, lemon and orange peel.
