Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt (70cl, 45%)

Miyagikyo is a Japanese single malt from Nikka, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. Nikka built the Miyagikyo distillery in 1969, on a site enclosed by mountains between the Shin and Hirose rivers. Masataka Taketsuru, who founded the company, chose it for its fresh water and crisp air, which are said to give a soft, mild malt. The colour is bright gold. The nose combines fresh barley with juicy, estery aromas of banana confectionery over a discreet, sweet smoky base. Spice and smoke become more noticeable on the palate.
