Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt (70cl)

A Japanese single malt from Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery, made from lightly peated and non-peated malted barley and distilled in pot stills heated by indirect steam. Masataka Taketsuru founded Miyagikyo as his second distillery, in a valley in Miyagi prefecture, and it began operating in 1969. This bottling carries no age statement and contains whiskies of at least 10 years old. The nose is rich with iris, malted barley, exotic fruit, liquorice and camphor, giving way to burnt wood, ash, white flowers and beeswax. The palate is bold, with malt, herbs, liquorice, ginger, cinnamon and chocolate. The finish brings fresh tobacco leaf and coconut.
