Nikka Pure Malt Red is a Japanese malt whisky from The Nikka Whisky Distilling Co., bottled at 43% in a 50cl bottle.
The nose is clean and fruit-led, with red apple, juicy pear, peach and orange, and softer caramel, vanilla, almond and a faint herbal note behind. The palate is round, silky and very smooth, with malty sweetness, vanilla, honey, candied fruit, cinnamon and a touch of sherry. The body is light to medium.
The finish is medium to long, clean and fresh, with sweet malt, floral touches and a very discreet trace of peat smoke.
