Nikka Yoichi 10 Year Old is the age-statement bottling from Yoichi, Nikka's first distillery, which Masataka Taketsuru built in 1939. It was discontinued during the Japanese whisky shortage and has since returned.
The nose is fruity, with dried berries, poached pear and sweet peach alongside vanilla, nutmeg and building peat smoke. The palate opens with more peat smoke, followed by soft oak and juicy fruit. The finish is of medium length, with rich oak, peat and creamy vanilla.
