This is a Yoichi single malt from Nikka, released in 2017 in a run of only 500 bottles for retail. Its final year of maturation was spent in a Moscatel wood cask, and it was bottled at 46% ABV. Moscatel is a Portuguese fortified wine made from sweet muscat grapes. The nose is led by strong Yoichi smoke, with a subtle muscat fruitiness behind it. On the palate come tropical fruit and thick honey, followed by an intense peaty finish.
