Nikka Yoichi Single Malt (70cl, 45%)

Nikka Yoichi Single Malt is a Japanese single malt from the Yoichi distillery on Hokkaido, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. Masataka Taketsuru founded the distillery in 1934 as the first for Nikka. The stills at Yoichi are fired directly with coal, a method Taketsuru came to know at Longmorn. It shapes a full, robust style in which peat and smoke meet fruit and oak. The nose combines soft oak with pronounced fruit. The palate is powerful, with clear peat and fine roasted notes, and the finish carries sweet oak and gentle smoke.
