This is a ten-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled by North Star Spirits as part of its series of single cask whiskies. It was distilled in December 2010 and matured in a refill barrel, and 288 bottles were filled.
It is a smoky dram. The nose brings tar, smoke and heavy malt. With a little water the palate opens into full-bodied Islay malt with plenty of spice and white pepper, a hint of iodine and red apples.
The finish is long and smoky, and anyone who likes peat smoke will find plenty of it.
