Octomore 10 Year Old is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, malted to 208 ppm and bottled at 54.3% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Only 12,000 bottles were filled.
It was distilled in 2009 from 100% Scottish barley of the 2008 harvest. The first five years were spent in first-fill American ex-whiskey casks, including ones from Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace and Jack Daniel's. The last five were spent in wine barriques from northern Spain and in virgin oak.
The nose combines peat with mango, nectarine, vanilla, nuts and oak. The palate brings salty seaweed, honeyed texture, peach and dried apricot. The finish is long, with coconut, tobacco and vanilla.
