Octomore 14.1 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, with a phenol level of 128.9 ppm. It was distilled in 2017 from Scottish mainland barley of the 2016 harvest, and is bottled at 59.6% after five years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks.
The nose has smoked vanilla, sweet caramel and toffee, sooty smoke, coconut, almonds and a touch of citrus. The palate brings bright citrus, smoke and minerality, then charred oak and beach-fire embers, with toffee and creamy vanilla. The finish has butterscotch and vanilla, earthy peat, a hint of sea spray and burnt heather.
