Octomore 14.3 is a single malt from Bruichladdich, peated to 214.2 ppm and bottled at 61.4%. It was distilled in 2017 from barley of the 2016 harvest, grown on Octomore Farm, two miles from the distillery on Islay.
It is five years old. Half of the whisky matured in first-fill American whiskey casks and half in second-fill wine casks.
The nose is biscuity malt and peat smoke with apricot, peach, honeyed pear, candied lemon peel, butterscotch and vanilla ice cream. The palate is rich and sweet with creamy porridge and cereal notes, and the finish is malted barley and earthy smoke with lingering barley sugar.
