Octomore 15.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 59.1% ABV with a phenol level of 108.2 ppm. It is the first edition of the 15th series.
It was distilled in 2018 from 100% Scottish Mainland Concerto barley grown in the 2017 harvest, then matured for five years in first-fill bourbon casks and re-charred ex-bourbon casks.
The nose brings caramel, fresh citrus and dry, earthy peat, with vanilla, anise, mango and geranium. On the palate, heat arrives first, followed by sweet malt, smoky earth, mango, banana, vanilla cream and toffee. The finish is peaty and sweet, with burnt oak and a fresh, maritime crispness.
