Octomore 15.1 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, released in The Impossible Equation series. It was distilled in 2018 from 100% Scottish barley and bottled on 22 February 2024 at 59.1%, with a phenol level of 108.2 PPM.
The whisky spent 5 years in Bourbon barrels and re-charred ex-bourbon barrels.
The nose combines citrus, pineapple, tropical fruit and vanilla with earthy peat smoke, custard, ginger and oak. The palate opens with sweet smoke, apricot, vanilla and mango, then turns more mineral and maritime with a little pepper. Peat smoke remains in the finish.
