Octomore 15.1 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at a natural strength of 59.4% in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled from 100% Scottish Concerto barley, peated to over 130 PPM.
The whisky matured for five years in first-fill American oak casks on Islay, and each cask was assessed individually.
The nose opens with earthy peat smoke, then vanilla, honey and warm malt, with lemon zest and oak resin. On the palate come peat, black pepper and sea salt, then caramel, toasted oak and barley sugar. The finish is long, fading from smoke into espresso, dark chocolate and salted caramel.
