Octomore 16.1 is the first release in the sixteenth Octomore series, a super heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich. It is distilled from 100% Scottish barley and aged mainly in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks.
Peat smoke sits alongside vanilla, honey and floral notes.
The nose opens with earthy, ashy peat, then vanilla, caramel, fresh barley, lemon zest, mint and wildflowers. The palate is oily and sweet, with toasted oak, honey, malted barley and ripe stone fruit. The finish is very long, with ashy embers, sweet oak and a touch of salt.
