Octomore 16.2 is a super heavily peated single malt from Bruichladdich. The spirit is matured in ex-bourbon American oak, then recasked into wine barriques for a final finishing period.
The result pairs intense peat smoke with dark fruit, spice and tannic structure.
The nose combines earthy peat with crushed berries, plum, grape skin, vanilla, mint and ashy smoke. On the palate, smoky peat meets dark chocolate, stewed fruit, blackcurrant and spice. The finish is very long, with smoke like embers, oak tannin and a hint of salinity.
