Octomore 17.1 is a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, the opening edition of the 17 Series, known as the Chromatic Signatures collection. It was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels.
The spirit is distilled from 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley malted to 81.0 PPM, and it is bottled at cask strength without chill filtration.
The nose is sweet malt and vanilla custard with toasted coconut, butterscotch, citrus peel and green melon, alongside gentle peat embers and sea salt. The palate is viscous and sweet, with vanilla milkshake, tablet and pear drops before the peat builds in waves. The finish is long, fading to dry minerality and lingering peat smoke.
