Octomore 17.3 is the estate expression of the 17 Series, a five-year-old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich. It is distilled from 100% Islay Concerto barley grown at Irene's Field on the Octomore Farm and malted to 132.1 PPM.
The whisky was aged in a cuvée of first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein and Syrah casks. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 60.9% ABV.
The nose is salty, tarry coastal smoke with malted grain, brown sugar, lemon peel, green apple and pear. The palate is viscous and peppery, with salted caramel, smoked apple, praline and charred peat. The finish is long and dry, ending in earthy smoke and sea salt.
